FAQs

  • What Exactly is Amie and how does it work?

Amie is an integrated digital platform and PT care system for pregnant women through the first 12 weeks postpartum. The app creates your personalized recovery program and automatically adjusts based on your daily symptom check-ins and progress tracking. Your licensed PT then works alongside the app - they can view your data, manually adjust your program, and provide additional support through texting, virtual sessions, or in-home visits depending on your plan.

This seamless integration means your PT always knows how you're feeling and can modify your exercises in real-time, while the app continues learning and adapting to your recovery between PT interactions. After completing a questionnaire and physical benchmark assessment, you'll receive a customized program addressing your specific needs, including pelvic floor strengthening, diastasis recti, and relief from common postpartum discomforts.

Choose from three levels of PT integration: texting support (nationwide), virtual sessions (California only - M/W/F), or in-home visits (East Bay on Tuesdays, Peninsula/South Bay on Thursdays, with extended service available in SF/Oakland/Marin for an additional travel fee).

Who creates the programs? Are they truly personalized?

All programs are designed by Dr. Anna, a licensed physical therapist with 8+ years specializing in pelvic rehabilitation for new mothers. Your program is customized based on your specific symptoms, recovery stage, and strength as tested by our physical benchmark assessment.

When should I start using Amie?

Always consult your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program during pregnancy or postpartum.
You can begin using Amie anytime during your pregnancy, or you can start any time within the first 12 weeks postpartum (with medical approval). We recommend starting the postpartum program as early as you feel comfortable, even within the first week or two postpartum. The earlier you begin your recovery journey, the more effective the results typically are.

How much time will I need to commit each day?

Your full daily program typically takes around 20 minutes and is designed specifically to fit into a busy mom's schedule. But we know real mom life doesn't always allow for 20 minutes - that's why you can choose shorter workout options of 5, 10, or 15 minutes on days when time is tight.

The app adapts to whatever time you have available while still keeping you on track with your recovery goals. You can switch between workout lengths as needed throughout your program.

What's included in my free trial?

Your 7-day free trial includes full access to your personalized exercise program, symptom tracking, and texting with a PT. Direct PT services (virtual sessions and in-home visits) require a paid subscription.

How do the PT services work?

Our licensed physical therapists provide support through unlimited texting (all Tiers), scheduled virtual sessions (Tiers 2 & 3), or in-home visits (Tier 3 only). All PTs specialize in perinatal and postpartum care.

Can I change my subscription level?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan anytime. Changes take effect immediately at a prorated cost.

  • Are Digital Programs as effective as Traditional PT?

Amie combines the best of both digital and in-person care. Our programs use the same evidence-based techniques as clinical settings, but with the added benefit of ongoing PT support through texting, virtual sessions, or in-home visits depending on your plan. This integration means you get professional oversight while maintaining the convenience of home-based exercise. When under traditional PT care, most recovery happens at home anyway - Amie ensures you're never doing it alone, with PT guidance available when you need it.

What issues can Amie help with?

Amie addresses a wide range of perinatal concerns including maintaining strength during pregnancy, preparing for birth, pelvic floor dysfunction, diastasis recti, back/hip pain, core weakness, posture issues, and general postpartum recovery. Your PT can also identify and address additional concerns specific to your situation.

How soon will I see results?

Many women notice improvements in symptoms within 2-3 weeks of consistent exercise. More significant changes in strength and function typically occur within 6-8 weeks. Your PT will monitor your progress and can adjust your program if you're not seeing expected improvements.

Is this safe if I had a c-section or complicated delivery?

Yes. Your program will be tailored to your specific delivery experience and recovery needs. The assessment process identifies any special considerations for C-section recovery or complications. However, always get clearance from your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program, especially after complications or C-section delivery.

  • How do I access the programs?

Amie is available through our secure, mobile-friendly web platform, allowing you to access your personalized program anytime, anywhere.
